Navy Fleet and Family Readiness (FFR) is once again inviting its dedicated civilian workforce to take the next step in their careers as applications open for the next recruitment cycle of its cornerstone professional development program, Leadership In Training (LIT).
Designed to develop today’s talented workforce into tomorrow’s leaders, the LIT program provides an immersive pathway through innovative training, mentorship and hands-on learning. The program offers ambitious FFR employees a clear path to advance professionally while contributing to the future of the organization.
“By participating, employees are not just gaining skills; they are positioning themselves for career advancement and taking a proactive role in shaping the future of our organization,” says Dr. Rosette Obedoza, FFR Training Officer, who has also been instrumental in developing the LIT program since its launch in January 2024.
Building on the success of the 2024 LIT cohorts, the upcoming 2026 intake reflects enhancements driven by feedback from graduates, facilitators and program staff. The updated structure includes one week of virtual classroom instruction followed by three weeks in-person training at Naval Support Activity (NSA) Mid-South in Millington, TN. The program is open to dedicated U.S. federal employees within FFR who are committed to personal and professional growth.
Dr. Obedoza emphasized the comprehensive nature of the curriculum, noting that the LIT program is designed to produce well-rounded leaders prepared for the complexities of today’s workforce. “The LIT program is meticulously designed to create ‘The Complete Leader,’ setting its graduates apart by providing a holistic and comprehensive development experience,” she said. “Unlike other trainings that might focus on a single aspect of leadership, LIT cultivates a trifecta of essential competencies, including interpersonal skills, professional skills and technical skills in order to lead teams, manage complex projects and make data-driven decisions.”
Looking ahead, the future of the LIT program remains strong, with a clear vision on leadership, organizational excellence and long-term impact. "The LIT program is more than a course, it is a career-defining journey," Dr. Obedoza added. "If you are committed to service and aspire to lead, we encourage you to take this pivotal next step in your professional life."
Applications for the 2026 cohort is open from January 8 to February 4, 2026, with classes scheduled to run from April 6 to May 1, 2026.
