Washington --- The waterfront at Naval Air Station (NAS) Pensacola transformed into a vibrant concert venue April 18, as more than 8,000 Sailors, families and community members gathered for an Operation MWR event featuring country music star Kane Brown, special guest Russell Dickerson and opening performer DJ Vito.

Hosted by Navy Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Entertainment in partnership with the local NAS Pensacola MWR team, the free concert brought the broader Navy community together for an unforgettable evening of live music along the Gulf Coast. Set against the backdrop of the bay under clear skies, the event provided a memorable experience while simultaneously celebrating NAS Pensacola’s 200th birthday, a significant milestone for one of the Navy’s most historic installations.

The significance of the concert to the NAS Pensacola community was evident long before the first artist took the stage, as fans lined the entry gates hours in advance, with some young attendees eagerly awaiting their first-ever live concert.

“When we talk about our forge, our fight and our fleet, MWR’s ability to bring events like this to our Sailors helps rejuvenate the spirit and soul,” said Capt. Chandra Newman, commanding officer of NAS Pensacola. “It also provides vital entertainment and something fun for our families to enjoy.”

The evening kicked off with DJ Vito, who delivered a high-energy set that immediately got the crowd excited. Special guest multi-platinum recording artist Russell Dickerson, known for his high-energy stage presence and deep crowd connection, expressed his appreciation for the military community through an engaging set that resonated with the thousands of Sailors and families in attendance.

“Performing for service members and their families is one of the great honors we get to do to give back to the country,” Russell Dickerson shared. “It’s the least we can do to take time out of our schedules to come. It’s always great to see the service members out and the families together having a good time.”

Multi-award-winning country music artist Kane Brown headlined the night, delivering a dynamic performance that showcased his vocal range and undeniable stage presence. He kept the audience engaged with fan-favorite hits, including “Put Some Miles On It,” “Famous Friends,” and “What Ifs,” delivering a show that strongly resonated with the crowd.

Beyond the music, Kane Brown took time throughout his set to connect personally with the NAS Pensacola community, sharing personal stories from the stage and expressing his gratitude to the service members and their families.
