Job Summary
Responsible for safety of swimmers in the pool. Enforces swimming pool regulations, safety rules are followed and account all participants at all times.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for safety of swimmers in the pool. Enforces swimming pool regulations, safety rules are followed and account all participants at all times. Assist swimmers having difficulty, rescues those in trouble and renders first aid until such time a qualified doctor or other emergency personnel are present. Performs housekeeping tasks for proper standards of cleanliness, free from hazards, sanitation and appearance of pool and related facilities. Assists in pool chemistry maintenance with good knowledge of all aspects of water safety rules and procedures. Provide customer assistance and supplies information regarding the facility and its programs. May assist with scheduled pool parties, after hours of operation or with base wide special events. Schedule includes evenings and weekends
Qualifications Required
Incumbent must hold current certification in American Red Cross Lifeguard training or equivalent, CPR for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid. Incumbents without a valid Lifeguarding certification must enroll in the Lifeguarding course provided by Naval Base Kitsap Aquatics Center and obtain certification within 30 days of hire. Must be knowledgeable of emergency water safety procedures. Must pass annual swim test demonstrating ability to perform the work. Must be able to demonstrate effective verbal communication skills. Successful completion of a National Agency (NACI) background check required as condition of employment. Incumbent must be at least 16 years of age.
